Six Key Factors on Essential Requirements of Quality Products Press Conference on Survey Results
The Hong Kong Q-Mark Council conducted a public survey between March and May 2016 on 841 Hong Kong people between the age of 18 and 60. The survey aimed to comprehend consumers’ requirements on quality products, their purchasing patterns and their Q-Mark awareness. The survey also tried to understand consumers’ knowledge on product certification marks. It is believed the survey results would benefit different stakeholders, and also would enhance product competitiveness. The results indicated that quite a number of consumers considered having quality marks on products was a key factor when making purchases; however their knowledge on different certification marks was inadequate. Therefore, public education on these marks is necessary. On Q-Mark awareness, over 90% of interviewees believed that Q-Mark provided quality guarantee and supported purchasing Q-Mark certified products.

There was other interesting information obtained from the survey which the Council wanted to share with the public. For this, a press conference was held on 23rd June 2016 (Thursday) at the Federation to announce the survey results to the media. At the conference, Q-Mark Chairman Mr. Bernie Ting and Vice-Chairman Dr. Daniel Yip presented the survey results. Professor Sin Yat-Ming, Director, MSc Program in Marketing of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Dr. Keith Chau, Programme Director (Institute for Entrepreneurship) of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University were invited to analyze purchasing behavior of Hong Kong people and to provide professional solutions.
